Iβm running for Boston City Council to close the wealth gap so our community can thrive!
Iβm a lifelong resident of District 7, a Boston Public Schools graduate, and a dedicated public servant working to tackle Bostonβs housing crisis.
Our people-powered campaign is rooted in community, integrity, and results.
With your support, I will bring bold, independent leadership to City Hallβputting the voices of Roxbury, Dorchester, the South End and Fenway front and center.
Mavrick in the Community

On Sunday, our team proudly marched in the Roxbury Unity Parade — a powerful celebration of the history, culture, and resilience that defines our community.
As proud sons and daughters of Roxbury, we walked from Nubian Square to Grove Hall, connecting with neighbors and friends who know that we are stronger when we stand together.
It was a day filled with joy, unity, and a shared belief that together, we can thrive.

Recently on the campaign trail, we’ve been deep in community—listening, learning, and standing alongside neighbors who are ready for change.
We spent time with families and young athletes at Harambee Park during YAP’s Summer Youth League kickoff. We cheered on the 6–9 and 10–13 year olds as they hit the court. These are the moments that remind us how powerful sports and community can be in shaping the next generation.

It’s Mavrick’s birthday TODAY! π
Born and raised right here, Mavrick is committed to serving the community that shaped him—and he’s fighting for housing policies that let everyone thrive, not just get by.
This year, skip the candles and help fuel the movement:

We started the day at the Roxbury Branch Library with an incredible team of volunteers, including brothers from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., to kick off a canvass across the neighborhood. We knocked doors, spoke with voters, and shared our vision for a stronger, more united District 7.
We then joined neighbors and community members at Roxbury Open Streets on Blue Hill Ave, a powerful event that brings people together with food, music, art, and joy right in the heart of the neighborhood.
We also had the honor of attending the renaming ceremony of the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in memory of the late Mayor Thomas Menino. His legacy of public service and love for this city continues to inspire so many of us to lead with heart and purpose.
Grateful for a full day of community, connection, and celebration.

Our first stop on the Listening Tour in the South End brought out over 20 neighbors who came ready to talk about what matters most. Housing led the conversation. Neighbors spoke about the need to protect affordable housing while also addressing the lack of options for middle income and working families who are trying to stay in Boston. Another key priority raised was the ongoing crisis at Mass and Cass. Residents shared thoughtful perspectives on how the situation continues to impact nearby neighborhoods and emphasized the need for continued coordination and long-term solutions. We also heard about public safety, green space, dog parks, and the importance of real community investment. One thing was clear. People want leadership that listens and includes them in the process. This campaign is about a shared vision for District 7. One that puts people, policy, and equity at the center. And yes — even the dogs had a few things to say.
Our next Listening Session is this Thursday. Details will be out soon.
What do you want to see for the future of District 7? Come share your ideas and help shape the change you want to see. #MavForD7

Join me on Thursday, July 10 for the official launch of my District 7 Listening Tour in the South End. We’ll be meeting at Southwest Corridor Park, right between the dog park and kids playground, for an open, community-centered conversation about the issues that matter most to you and our neighbors.
This is your chance to share your ideas, concerns, and hopes for the future of our city directly with me and my campaign team. I want to listen, connect, and build a vision for a Boston that truly works for all of us.
Light refreshments will be provided and everyone is welcome.

Grateful to spend time with the legendary Tony Richards Sr. and his son Tony Richards Jr. @beantown_rich617 at this week’s No Books No Ball @nobooksnoball community event in Roxbury.
For over 30 years, No Books No Ball has empowered generations of Boston youth through mentorship, academic support, and the game of basketball. This program doesn’t just teach kids how to play, it teaches them how to lead, learn, and succeed on and off the court.
As someone who grew up in this community, I’m inspired by the legacy Tony Sr. has built and the impact NBNB continues to have on our city’s young people. This is what real community leadership looks like.

From my family’s journey from Cabo Verde to Four Corners, to growing up in Roxbury and witnessing both the challenges and the resilience of our people, I carry the spirit of our community in everything I do.
I’m humbled to be recognized as one of this year’s 40 Under 40 by the @cvassociationofboston of Boston led by Paulo DeBarros during our 50th Independence Day celebration. This honor is about more than me. It’s about the legacy of leaders, elders, and organizers who’ve paved the way. From spaces like Cesaria Restaurant, DSNI, St. Patrick’s Church, Bowdoin Street Health Center and beyond, our community has always built power with purpose.
“Amizadi é kusas más importanti na es vida.”
Friendship is the most important thing in this life.
Whether it’s those on the front lines or behind the scenes, you’ve inspired me and shaped who I am today.
I’m so proud to be part of the Cape Verdean community. If elected, I will be a champion for the Cabo Verdean Community making our country proud and showing Boston the beauty and strength of our people. We are stronger together and together we will always thrive.
This past week was a great celebration of Cabo Verde’s Independence. Check out the recap of the celebration in our stories and in my “Where’s Mavrick” highlight. #togetherwethrive

Happy 4th of July! πΊπΈ
As we celebrate this day with family, friends, and neighbors, we also reflect on Boston’s powerful role in the American Revolution, and the ongoing work of building a more just and equitable future.
Let’s honor our history not just with fireworks, but with a renewed commitment to freedom, dignity, and opportunity for all.

Proud to stand in solidarity with Teamsters Local 25 today as they fight for fair wages and dignity on the job.
Workers are the backbone of this city and they deserve respect, safe conditions, and contracts that reflect their value.
I’m stand with these workers today and every day in the fight for economic justice.
Let’s build a Boston where no one gets left behind.

Grateful to walk the neighborhood yesterday with some of Boston’s finest from the Boston Police and Fire Department.
Public safety is a top priority—and that means building strong relationships, fostering trust, and working together to keep every corner of District 7 safe and supported.
Thank you to the officers and firefighters who show up every day for our community. #TogetherWeThrive
